Rilko’s Good News of the Week · October 10–17, 2026

🌎❤️ RILKO’S GOOD NEWS OF THE WEEK
📅 October 10–17, 2026
✨ THE WORLD STILL SHINES
Sometimes, the world feels overwhelmingly loud.
Everywhere we turn, there’s another argument, another tragedy, another reason to question where humanity is headed. We’re surrounded by an endless sea of negativity, and sometimes it feels like the good is disappearing beneath the waves.
But here’s the thing…
The good hasn’t disappeared. Sometimes, we just have to look a little harder to find it. ❤️
So grab a cup of coffee, take a moment, and let’s celebrate five reminders that there’s still so much worth believing in.
❤️ TWO BROTHERS. THREE LIVES SAVED.
In Indiana, teenage brothers Maddox and Grant Larger jumped into action when a grandmother and her two young grandchildren were in danger in a pond. Their courage and quick thinking helped save all three lives. Two ordinary teenagers doing something extraordinary.
🎃 A LITTLE HALLOWEEN MAGIC.
In New York, children receiving cancer care got something every child deserves: a chance to laugh, dress up, play, and simply enjoy being kids. A Halloween celebration at NYU Langone brought joy and precious memories to families navigating incredibly difficult journeys.
🏛️ PRESERVING A PIECE OF HISTORY.
In London, the historic home of Rules restaurant, dating back to 1798, was donated to the National Trust. An extraordinary act of generosity will help protect a treasured piece of history for generations to come.
🌊 A RIVER GETS A FIGHTING CHANCE.
A new report from London revealed that the Thames Tideway Tunnel helped reduce the modelled volume of sewage overflows entering the river by approximately 86% during 2025 compared with the earlier baseline. There’s still work to do, but meaningful progress deserves recognition.
🌱 PLANTING SEEDS FOR TOMORROW.
England launched a ten-year plan to expand organic farming, supporting farmers and creating opportunities for a more sustainable agricultural future. It’s a commitment to what tomorrow could become.
Five stories. Five different reminders that compassion, courage, generosity, and progress are still happening all around us.
And here’s what I hope we remember this weekend…
Don’t just see the good. BE the good.
Hold the door for someone. Smile at a stranger. Check on a neighbor. Show patience when someone is struggling. Listen to someone whose experiences or beliefs are different from yours.
Choose understanding over judgment. Tolerance over division. Kindness over cruelty.
We don’t have to agree on everything to treat each other with dignity and respect.
And we don’t have to change the entire world in one day.
Sometimes, changing one person’s day is enough to start something beautiful.
The world isn’t perfect. It never has been. But it’s still filled with wonderful people doing wonderful things.
And maybe, just maybe, the next good news story starts with something you do today. ❤️
See the good. Be the good.
Because the world still shines. ✨
