ON THIS DAY / SPECIAL OBSERVANCES
October 15: A Little More Lucy, A Little More Laughter

📺❤️ ON THIS DAY — OCTOBER 15, 2026 ❤️📺
“Lucy, you’ve got some ‘splainin’ to do!” 😂
75 years ago today, I Love Lucy premiered on CBS, bringing Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz into America’s living rooms and forever changing television. The laughter, the love, the unforgettable moments… generations later, Lucy and Ricky are still making us smile. ❤️
But October 15 has plenty of other stories to tell!
📜 1582: The Gregorian calendar takes effect in its first adopting countries.
🎈 1783: Jean-François Pilâtre de Rozier makes a pioneering tethered balloon ascent.
🏝️ 1815: Napoleon arrives on St. Helena to begin his final exile.
🚀 2003: China’s Shenzhou 5 carries Yang Liwei into space.
And today, we’re also celebrating:
🧼 Global Handwashing Day
🌾 International Day of Rural Women
🦯 White Cane Safety Day
💜 Spirit Day — standing against bullying and supporting LGBTQ+ youth
🍋 National Lemon Bar Day
Here’s a little something Lucy taught us: Life doesn’t always go according to plan. Sometimes the chocolate conveyor belt moves too fast, sometimes the bread won’t stop rising, and sometimes everything goes hilariously wrong. 😂
But through it all, there’s something beautiful about finding reasons to laugh, treating people with kindness, and sharing a little joy with the world.
So today, make somebody smile. Be kind to someone who needs it. And don’t forget to laugh at yourself every now and then.
Because the world could always use a little more Lucy. ❤️
See the good, be the good.
You only get one October 15, 2026. Make it count! 🍂
